Press Release of ALKHANSAS for the Indonesia Cultural Fashion 2017 Milan, organised by Kolam Ikan. The event was held on 19 December 2017.
Held in BASE Milan, Via Bergognone, 34 Milan, Italy, ALKHANSAS (together with other 3 Indonesian Designers) showcased its latest collection on the theme of Indonesia’s Cultural Heritage.
Taking the idea of the Indonesia’s main characteristic: Diversity, ALKHANSAS presented exciting variation within the collection. Taking different distinctive elements, colors, patterns, and silhouettes to the visual presentation; a dedication to the concept of Indonesia’s diversity, a country with rich cultures.
Starts from a beautiful white dress with daring, bright, and courageous prints/ motives presented in abstract paintings done with unconventional material and media; combined with Batik Fabric from Cirebon, Java Island (Mega Mendung).
The collection continued to show other pieces committing to the concept of Diversity, by going to another part of Indonesia, which was Makassar located in Sulawesi Island. This was shown by prints of Pinisi, a legendary ship originated from Makassar.
The next outfit was a brown Batik combined with a draped one armed vest, inspired by the roman outfit. A piece to show influences to ALKHANSAS’ design: Italian art & history, together with Indonesian rich culture.
Last, audiences were shown by the appearance of playful yet elegant combination of Batik. Black batik paired with shining silver skirt, a very special piece because of the combination between two attitudes: elegant and sporty (beautiful rich fabric with an edgy silhouettes that has many panels and an alluring slit on the front).
